JB: I'm bored.
L: What's on TV?
JB: Nothing.
L: There must be something on TV!
JB: Nothing that's interesting.
L: What about that new game show?
JB: Which one?
L: "Deal or No Deal"
JB: Tell me you're joking.
L: I love that show.
JB: I watched it once. That was enough.
L: It's on right now. Let's watch it together.

JB: I like living here.
L: I agree. Pasadena is a nice city.
JB: It's not too big.
L: And it's not too small.
JB: It has great weather all year long.
L: It has the Rose Parade.
JB:  Sure Thing! It has beautiful houses.
L: What about the wonderful restaurants?
JB:  You made my mouth water! It has great schools.
L: It's close to the mountains.
JB: The people are friendly.
L: I'm not ever going to leave.

L: Joner and I need a new mattress.
JB: What's the matter with yours?
L: It's not comfortable.
JB: It seems fine to me.
L: I toss and turn all night.
JB: You should stop drinking coffee.
L: Look at these marks on my arms.
JB: What are they?
L: They are bites.
JB: Did the cat bite you?
L: No. The bedbugs in that mattress bit me.
JB: Okay. You better buy a new mattress.

JB: My laptop is so slow.
L: Buy a new one.
JB: I would if I had the money. Did you forget I'm an ordinary teacher?
L: Why is your laptop so slow?
JB: That's a good question.
L: Did you take it to a computer shop?
JB: I would if I had the money.
L: Well, I guess you have to live with it.
JB: Sometimes I want to throw it out the window.
L: You don't want to do that.
JB: Why not? Will Tetudoviscky buy me a new one?
L: No way ! But if you throw it out the window , you might hit someone in the head.

L: What's for dinner?
JB: I'm not sure.
L: How about a pizza?
JB: You had pizza for lunch.
L: But I love pizza.
JB: Everybody loves pizza.
L: So why can't I have pizza for dinner?
JB: Because you need variety.
L: What's "variety?
JB: Different things—not the same thing all the time.
L: You mean, like a pepperoni pizza instead of a cheese pizza?
JB: No, I mean a salad instead of a pizza.

L: Joner and I need to save money.
JB: Why do you guys need to save money?
L: Because we need to buy a house.
JB: But a house in Cidade Tiradentes isn't so expensive. You better buy it downtown.
L: That's why we need to save money.
JB: How much do you need to save?
L: We need to save enough for a down payment.
JB: How much is that?
L: That's about $30,000.
JB: Thirty thousand dollars! That will take forever.
L: Not if we save every penny.
JB: Okay. Let me help you with that. Here's seven pennies.

L: The ocean is so big.
JB: You can't see the end of it.
L: It goes on and on forever.
JB: And it's deep, too.
L: I think it's five miles deep.
JB: Are there fish at the bottom?
L: There are fish at the top and the bottom.
JB: Are there more fish or more people?
L: I think there are more fish.
JB: I hope so. I love to eat fish
