Structures for Conversation

Do you want me to + (verb)

To 'want' is to feel or have a desire for.  When saying 'Do you want me to' you're asking someone if there is anything you can do for them or assist them with.

Here are some examples:



"Do you want me to pick up the kids at school ?"
"Do you want  him to fix your computer ?"
"Do you want my brother-in-law  to help you  understand my sister ?"
"Do you want the teacher to remind you  that you have class on thursday ?"
"Do you want me to remove my shoes from your box ?"

The word 'want' can also be used to express something YOU would like someone else to do or that something you personally would enjoy.

Here are some examples:

She wants you to come over for dinner ."
" The boss wants us to make a decision about that  project."
"Tati wants Guilherme to water the flowers before he leaves."
"I want to understand what you are trying to say to me."
"I want to be better than you at swimming."
"I want to be more involved in my English Course."

Why don't we + (verb)

Don't' is a contraction of 'do not.' When using 'why' you are asking a question that involves yourself and the person you are talking to.

Here are some examples:

"Why don't we go bowling tonight?"
"Why don't we visit Allianz Park with Gui ?"
"Why don't we play a game of chess before going to bed?"
"Why don't we save more money to travel in the end of the year ?"
"Why don't we remember Luciano to buy chocolate for us ?"
"Why don't we  practice more conversation ?"
"Why don't we try and do it  over ?"
"Why don't we  buy something to drink ?"
"Why don't we stop beating around the bush and go straight to the source ?"
"Why don't we find a way to earn more money?"

It's too bad that

Too bad' means regrettable or unfortunate.  When using it in a sentence you are expressing a concern or regret for what has taken place.  The topic being discussed could have happened to you, the person you are talking to, or someone or something else.

Here are some examples:

"It's too bad that Palmeiras lost the match ."
"It's too bad that you have to go now ."
"It's too bad that I found out about your plans to destroy my career ."
"It's too bad we will not be here in 90 years ."
"It's too bad that tickets are all gone to the final match at Corinthians Arena ."
"It's too bad that it is supposed to rain all day long tomorrow."
"It's too bad that she hurt herself while chopping broccolis."
"It's too bad that my work has to lay off people after the  prision of the chairman."
"It's too bad that you do not understand that Ariana Grande is in love with you."
